Use CAUTION when purchasing essential oils:
I am very excited about the world of essential oils and all the benefits they offer (body, mind and spirit).
My biggest problem with sharing this excitement is that many, take the information and then go to their local store and buy an essential oil product for a few dollars, expecting to receive therapeutic benefit from it. Of course they don’t and may even experience harmful effects. They then feel essential oils are NOT what they are said to be. Or they buy a skin or personal care product that is labeled to have essential oils in it. Of course it does, but the oil used is not of a therapeutic-grade and is adulterated oil. Many times these products contain toxic chemicals as well. The marketing of inferior essential oils is everywhere. Even to an educated essential oil consumer, it can be difficult to sort through and get the full and true source of the oil in a product. Words like, 100% natural, pure and organic, don’t mean what one believes them to mean.
I hope everyone will educate themselves BEFORE purchasing ANY essential oil product or ANY product with essential oils as an ingredient. Even if you aren't looking for the therapeutic benefit of an essential oil and just enjoy the aroma in your personal care products / cleaners, etc., if you are putting an adulterated oil on your skin it is no different than putting chemicals on your skin. The source of the oil and how it was processed can be toxic or at the very least not give you what you THOUGHT you were paying for. Always remember your skin absorbs what is put on it... Including water and soaps.
I never buy skin cleansing products or skin care products, out in the marketplace that list essential oils as an ingredient. It is far to difficult to know the source of the essential oil or what chemical processing / additives have been used. Even if it says; natural, pure or organic, it does not necessarily mean it is unadultrated or free of chemicals.
I have found the best thing for me was to find a source that I believed in and trusted and purchase my oils and oil containing products only from that trusted source. I also, make my own skin care and topical first aid products/recipes. Easy to do and I KNOW what is in it!
