I keep noticing licorice root extract in preparations related to bowel cleansing, such as the Nature's Whole Body Program tablets, cleansing teas, and the like. It seems to me that the basis for licorice as medicine is that it stimulates mucus production, hence its value in healing stomach ulcers. But the goal of bowel cleansing and diet correction is mucus reduction, is it not? Anyone know something about this?
