Hi spelmangrad (and all),
Have been monitoring this site for a few months and have become really excited about the good information dispensed by many, and feel like I almost "know" many of you. This is a great site.
Have really enjoyed, especially the information in the posts provided by Ptree.
Spelmangrad (assume the username refers to the university--my daughter considered attending there and I have many friends who are alums), it's good to hear about your results.
I began my p&b shakes on Thursday, and as of today (Sunday) still awaiting results.
Like you, I've become "hooked" on this site, and my daughter also thinks I have a strange obsession now with my colon and bm's in general. But I believe I have some health related problems directly associated with my digestion and elimination.
For my process, I chose the Sonne's #7 psyllium cleanser and #9 Bentonite, since my health store didn't carry Great Plains.
I've started w/1.5 teasp. of the psyllium and 1 tablespoon of the bentonite, twice/day.
Since I've been plagued with constipation since my early 20's (I'm 51) I wanted to start moderately and build up to prevent added problems. I've also increased my walking and exercise to an hour each day, and while I am decidedly hooked on certain face foods (broiled chicken and salmon), I'm trying to stick with limiting consumption of these to once per week (although I probably need to eliminate altogether).
I'm a TV/print medical journalist, and have a good understanding of health---my sister was also an RN and I learned alot from her too, God rest her soul, but haven't always taken the best care of myself anyway. In this phase of my life, I'm trying to do so, despite chickening out on my colonic appt. (was afraid of pain).
So, let's keep one another posted. Like you, I'm a little apprehensive about looking in the toilet--even though I do all the time--but this is a little different.
Your comment about the "satisfying feeling" was encouraging, since I've had a dull ache in my lower abdomen for months with a feeling of pressure on my bladder and some soreness after voiding.
I'm not a doctor, but believe my (transverse)colon has dropped and is putting pressure on my bladder--I had a hysterectomy 13 years ago, so the pressure is probably even greater w/the absence of the reproductive organ.
I have experienced some relief from the ache when I've had a decent bm, but since I go only once every 4-5 days, I ache more than not. So, I'm looking forward to the results to come.
Thanks all.
