Hi Dr. Jeff,

I have spent most of this last year on the Mirena IUD site. I had the Mirena taken out almost a year ago and basically had full body meltdown afterwards. I had may symptoms and I'll tell a few of them. The reason I got the Mirena out was it felt like my throat was closing and I had no appetite. I started to have a burning stomach and stomach twitching that felt like a baby was kicking. I also had serious pain in my under arm. After the removal I stopped eating and lost 20# in 5 weeks. At this time I was also put on an antibiotics(I believe it was Bactrim) for a supposed UTI that I had although I had no symptoms. During this whole time i was convinced I was dying of some form of cancer, had panic attacks, heart palpitations, tenderness in the LUQ and RUQ as well as a bulge in the LUQ, feelings of buzzing in my body, dizziness, vertigo, itchy abdomen and rash. I had many tests done during this time including a colonoscopy, EGD, brain MRI, ABD CT scan, upper GI swallow study, hepatobiliary scan, carotid arteries ultrasounded, and numerous stool and blood tests. Everything came back normal. In the Spring I took more antibiotics for a supposed sinus infection(Amoxicillin). I saw all kinds of doctors during this time and kept bringing up candida. They all said I was crazy. One of the hardest parts of this last year has been dealing with MD's who don't believe any of my problems even though I feel like I'm going crazy. The obgyn didn't believe the Mirena caused any of my 1st symptoms(if you look at the Mirena site it's obvious it did) and the other docs not believing any of the candida stuff. I'm a nurse and finally had to turn to Eastern medicine which was a crazy thing to have to do. I now have a Doctor of Oriental Medicine who does NAET testing. From the beginning he told me I had more than one thing going on. We worked on the hormones for awhile, but I still had some lingering symptoms. One being exreme head fog that would come and go. I finally took a stool test from Disgnos-Techs. The results were +3(out of 5)Candida albicans, +1 Rhodo torula species, and +2 Candida krusei. He thought that it would take 4-6 mos. to get this under control. I started with the formula SF722(Undecenoic acid), blood oxygenators, and probiotics. He then told me that if I got some other prescription anti-fungals that it could happen faster. I took Diflucan for 3 weeks and have been off for a week. I can't say that I felt all that much better during this time, but I definitely felt worse after stopping the Diflucan. During this whole time I have had brain fog on and off,
occasional orthostatic hypertension,
eye swelling and yellow/redness on the whites,
fatigue,
stomach rash,
muscle burning or fatigue,
feelings like my stomach is bruised on the LUQ and RUQ and a bulge in the LUQ
and sometimes I wake up with an increased heart rate or SOB that cotinues through the day and makes it uncomfortable to walk up stairs or exercise.
I basically am trying to find out if you think all these symptoms could be caused by the candida. The stomach rash sometimes comes out on it's own but comes out all over my abdomen after doing castor oil packs. I'm assuming these are toxins leaving my body but shouldn't they get less after awhile? I've been on this regimen along with the diet for over 7 weeks now. I also have a swollen lymph node in my armpit which is causing a lot of discomfort. The pain got really bad while I had the Mirena and I keep thinking it will go away but it is now turning into an achiness and wraps around to my back. I've had a mammogram and Ultrasound that were normal, but am thinking about getting a thermogram. I was sent to my chiropractor for a rib adjustment because my nurse pracitioner thought that might be where the pain is coming from. My ribs were locked in place, so he was able to free them up, so I'm not sure if my achiness might be from muscle or if it's related to the lymph nodes. I've heard that candida can block lymph noodes. I also have one in my neck that went way down while on the diflucan, then this last week got bigger again while off of it. Do you know about lymph nodes and if Candida can affect them? I am now on day 3 of taking Terbinafine and am wondering if this is a bad idea and will just make the candida stronger. Any thoughts on this? Sorry about the long post, it's been a rollercoaster that I am ready to get off...
