I think you may be right. I'm a health care professional. One of Moreless's female followers happened to like some things that I was discussing with another member. She replied on the forum and then began to email me. I had looked up her previous postings and saw that she was quite enthralled by Moreless. I made it a point to not mention that, but to stick to the topic of the forum. She began to email me. She started to share her feelings about his forum and how positively she viewed him. I had been one of his victims in the past, but I didn't want to ruin what seemed to be extremely important to her, so I kept my mouth shut. Then a topic came up about a therapy that I was getting and had taken away some risks from my health that I was very excited about. The people on the forum were nice, but then he came along and blasted me. He remembered me from the past, he hadn't banned me, but I guess I was not exactly what he approved of.
He said very demeaning things to me. The female member, who I thought was nice defended the awful things he said, and expected me to be fine with it. And when I say awful, I mean he said things no decent human would say to another.
I only commented because the treatment I had, was life saving and already being discussed. The person who had been emailing me and posting on the other forum I was on turned into a bull dog, guarding Moreless and making me into a villain. It was weird. But, I just chalked it up to the dangers of becoming friendly with a Moreless devotee. I wasn't so effected that time. But, when I was a newbee and happened on his forum, it was very hurtful, not so much him, cause I could see from classes I had taken that he was mentally ill. But, it was the people that were also on his forum that attacked me as well. In my opinion, it has all the signs that identify a cult. Many of his followers are brainwashed. They have no validation in real life, and seek approval from anywhere they can find it.
I believe he is a dangerous presence to vulnerable people. People with an illness that need direction from a stern taskmaster to make them feel whole. If they win his favor it feels good to them. But, it stops them from growing and learning and is ultimately very destructive. The protocol whether good or bad pales in comparison to the mental damage that he inflicts. PS, in rereading, in case it isn't clear it was a philosophical forum that the Moreless member contacted me on, I wasn't on his forum.
