Hiya Sebek. Congrats on your tenacity AND your location (living so close to outlets for syrup!). I'm a nurse, with also an undergrad degree in biochem, so I can assuage your fears about "iodized" versus "iodine". Regular table salt (the kind with the little girl holding the umbrella, dontcha know) has the mineral Iodine added to it as a dietary supplement. Sea Salt is simply salt water, left to dry until the water evaporates and all that's left is the salt. As all water is loaded with negative IONS-root of the word IONIZATION (this is a good thing....think of how yummy it smells outdoors after a rainstorm), the fact is that the ions remain with the salt even after the water evaporates (through some odd chemical mutation). Please tell your Trader Joe's manager thatyou have done copious research (LOL), and that Sea Salt does NOT "naturally" contain IODINE, nor is it added to it. I hope that this information is helpful to you, and keeps your blood pressure nice and low. Haha, I just re-read what I wrote, and, boy, do I sound like a Science nerd! Good luck, and keep in touch. BB
