A quick search of Dr. Mark A. Babizhayev and google pops up this site: http://www.weeklyuniverse.com/2004/cataract.htm
The Dr. claims to have patents in multiple countries and also states:
"The only clinically efficacious Product on the market is Can-C TM available at Can-C.net and N-acetylcarnosine.com. Its Private labels Ocuzyme and Bionational (Nu-Eyes) are also clinically effective to cure cataracts. "
Wikipedia states that:
"Carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine) is a dipeptide of the amino acids beta-alanine and histidine. It is highly concentrated in muscle and brain tissues."
Could a deficiency in beta-alanine and/or histidine facilitate cataracts? Or an elevated level carnosinase, an enzyme that breaks down acetylcarnosine?
I realize that it's not that simple, other factors play roles in a domino effect chain leading to cataracts, among other issues.
