my husband does therapeutic bodywork and works part time out of an upper cervical chiropractic office. I have seen a number of different chiropractors over the years, and it sounds like exactly what you need, but my advice is make sure you choose your doctor wisely. My belief now is that only a select few are really good at getting to the root of the imbalances, and good supportive bodywork whether it's myofascial, craniosacral, something balancing - even if you just do gentle yoga yourself, can really help. I used to have to go to "get cracked" (a lot of neck problems in particular) up to once a week or more because that guy never got the atlas connection. That's where the upper cervical "straight" chiropractic came in and helped a great deal (and I met my husband at her office!), but after a number of years with that minimal program, letting my body unwind once taking pressure off the brain stem with the atlas adjustments and some occasional adjustments to the other cervical bones, I still was having problems lower down, so I found a guy who uses a computer with a tool that both diagnoses subluxations as well as treats them, and he does some manual work as well. His take is that if the base of the neck isn't stable, (C6, 7, T1, etc.), the upper cervicals will not hold their adjustment, and I think he is right. I had to see him more often for awhile, but now I finally feel like I'm much more stable. He also adjusts other areas in the spine, and while I was reluctant to go back to full spine manipulation, that tool he uses is not like the "cracking" I used to get, seems more honoring to the body, and feels less invasive.

See a good chiropractor, but do your homework on their methods, then if you can afford it, get good supportive care in the form of bodywork to help with the connective tissue issues, cranial balance, etc.
