No, the flashbacks visited upon Viet Nam Veterans are not TV either. My husband passed from a Thymus Gland tumor in 2001 - a cancer so rare no one seemed to have a clue what to do - possibly/probably from exposure to Agent Orange. I will also have to claw and crawl for benefits due his widow.
The Veteran of WAR is difficult to even talk about - the only subject I find hard to articulate having lived with the effects. I often wondered what the man was like prior to experiencing being programmed to kill. They do not UNTEACH this. The real damage cannot be seen, though limbs may be missing and bodies survive bullets and shrapnel. Surprise, surprise when the look in their eyes means right now you're the Viet Cong. The entity CANCER tried to take me down as well - some of the long term attack on my adrenals. I spent two and a half years in CHEMO rooms to no avail, and will never go there myself - for any reason. I knew all along there was another way, but went unheard and so learned how much we can lead the horse to water . . .
It is unfortunate that new casualties of WAR will be in the hands of the AMA. A government still willing to sacrifice its people . . . real stewardship of power means never having to misuse it.
