Hello improvinghealth,

I think going for the long haul is a mindset. For one to fast for so long they must be mentally ready to face their inner demons. You don't just stop wanting food as much as you just want more and are not scared to persue it.

Sometimes saying "I'm hungry...let me break fast. I can fast next week" is just a way of holding on to what is familar.
