The Lugol's you bought is probably 2% (it'll say on the bottle). If it WAS 2%, then 1 drop is only about 5 mg. If it was 5%, then 2 drops is 25 mg.Dr. David Brownstein, author of "Iodine: Why you need it; Why you can't live without it" recommends AT MINIMUM 12.5 mg - 25 mg of iodine/potassium Iodide (lugols or iodoral), optimally he recommends 50mg.

12.5 mgs of Lugols at 5% is 1 drop (that's 1 iodoral tab)
25 mgs of Lugols at 5% is 2 drops (that's 2 iodoral tabs)
50 mgs of Lugols at 5% is 4 drops (that's 4 iodoral tabs)
So...6 drops of 5% lugols would be 72 mgs.

Dr. Brownstein recommends at minimum 100 mg for very severe conditions like breast cancer. So even 100 mgs is safe. That would be 8 drops of 5% or 8 iodoral tabs.

then 2% lugols is slightly less than half of 5% lugols: I'm not sure of the math so I'm guesstimating that 1 drop equals around 5-6 mgs of lugols.

5-6 mgs of lugols at 2% is 1 drop
10-12 mgs lugols at 2% is 2 drops
20-24 mgs lugols at 2% is 4 drops
and 6 drops would be about 30-36 mgs which would be well within Brownstein's recommendation of 25-50 mgs.


I've taken as much as 100 mgs of iodoral without any problems.
