 Schisandra

H, could this help my capillary bleeding? although not in my eyes. When i had eye test, they photograph back of eye and there was no evidence of bleeding capillaries there. I sometimes get floaters also but don't smoke.

Yes, schisandra is richin flavononoids to help strengthen the blood vessel walls. If you like watercress or nettle leaf these will also help tremendously due to elevation of rutin levels, vitamin C and silica.

I've just been trying to find more info on this berry. You can take instead of coffee for a lift apparently, which would help me in my quest to quit coffee.

Yes, schisandra helps with energy, primarily due to its adaptogenic qualities. If you such on the berries, or powder, you will get more benefit as all the flavors will stimulate all the taste receptors on the tongue.

I don't know what is hype and what is true, reading the websites about it.

Schisandra is an excellent herb to know, and it is my favorite adapotgen.

What is the best way of taking it, in what form, and can you mix it with all the other herbs/adaptogens.

I prefer the powder mixed with other adaptogens. In fact somewhere on this forum I mention how to make adaptogenic candies with schisandra. If you like Sweet and Sour Tarts then you will love these candies.

Does it help hormone balance?

Yes, though the adrenals and due to its beneficial effects on the liver. If you suck on the berries or powder it will also help cleanse the liver due to the bitter taste. If you have never tried these before they are a trip. They are actually sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent. Thus their name 5 flavor fruit.

is it okay for hypothyroidism,

Except autoimmune. In this case use them in lower quantities by combining them with other adaptogens.

autoimmune issues,

Same as above. Schisandra does contain immune stimulating polysaccharides.

oestrogen balance etc.post menopause.

Yes, explained further up.

I'm just wondering if worth adding to my regime. I was going to add the suma. I take the maca presently. What adaptogens would benefit my problems the most?

Schisandra, jiaogulan, licorice root and suma.
