In our society of instant gratification, of course people want to get a quick fix for any symptoms they may have that are causing discomfort. I see these type of questions on CZ all the time. The problem with quick fixes and the allopathic tendancy to treat symptoms, is that in order to have symptoms of an illness or disease , you need to have an illness or disease in the first place. This root condition is often untreated.
One of the main reasons that I began to look for alternatives to allopathic medicine is that I didn't want to treat symptoms of illness, I wanted not to get the illness in the first place. My aim was to use natural medicines, good nutrition and some changes in lifestyle, to build my immune system up, so I did not get sick.
This strategy has worked very well, I no longer get sick, so I have no need to treat symptoms of illness.
It is not in the interest of allopathic medicine practitioners for people to be well, they only make money when people are sick. Treating symptoms and not the root cause of the symptoms, means that people need to keep coming back for more drugs and more doctors visits. I am also wary of alternative practitioners who treat symptoms and not the cause of illness, the same logic applies, if people are treated for symptoms, they don't get well and need to keep coming back.
The greatest tools I have in keeping myself healthy are a good dose of skepticism, critical thinking and self responsibility. All these I can produce myself.
