:) Ja, its a group definition, and improper as are all group definitions, like saying a person likes or doesn't like redheads, whites, mexicans, blacks, yellows, greens, reds, terrorists, marxists, capitalists, constitutionalists, purples, democrats, republicrats, engineers, lawyers, alligators, etc. Each "herb" needs to be looked at individually. I'd prefer to call them plants myself. Some plants are deadly but have beneficial constituents, viz., oleander, & cet. and need to be prepared prior to ingestion. Others can be eaten with no preparation, like tomatoes, if thats an herb. Or is it a fruit ? Semantics. The semanticians can stuff it. I'll call it a tomato.

so rather than saying "herbs are good" or "herbs are bad", just like saying
________'s are dumbfvecks, I tend to examine each one on its merits prior to passing judgement, just as I do with allopathic medicinals, and mammals. Although once I've got an idea of what a croc is like, I tend to avoid other crocs and swimming in their streams, even though there might be a kind, gentle one or two among them.
