Try some gentle yoga or pilates + breathing exercises from here: http://exercisetv.tv/

As a personal trainer, I don't recommend cardio (especially 'steady-state' constant speed cardio as the focus of any exercise program. What burns fast best is Interval Training combined with weight resistance training, and in order to do that properly you need to be taking in some protein to repair muscle/joint/ligament tissues and carbohydrates to fuel your muscles with glycogen.

I notice after a workout session I really crave sugars/carbs and this is natural as I deplete my glycogen stores while working out. If you were in ketosis, and continuing to tax your muscles by fasting I imagine you'd be setting yourself up to binge because your body would literally be starved for glucose. I honestly cannot imagine a worse way to try to lose weight!

A proper diet, low in High GI carbs, combined with the above will blast fat much faster than a water fast. In fact, I've noticed on all my fasts that I wasn't losing weight - that the weight loss came afterwards when I started eating properly and working out again. Then again, my case is different because I'm 5'8 and about 132-135 pounds, with little bodyfat to lose.

I was once 190 pounds, and I didn't lose 50+ pounds via water fasting. It was done through a permanent change in my diet where I cut back white Sugar and white flour, dairy and all processed foods.

I'm not saying your attempts at fasting are futile. The bitter truth is that your everyday habits are what have resulted in your overweight condition. What you do day-by-day is what determines your permanent weight...if you don't have a handle on this before the fast, what makes you think you'll be successful afterwards? I don't mean to be harsh, but I'm speaking from experience. For every success story I see on these fasting boards there are dozens, maybe hundreds of unfinished blogs and disappearing members who I'm positive set themselves up for failure by fasting without having established good habits beforehand, and regaining all the weight they had lost. Despite the physiological harm they've done, the psychological letdown is devastating. I've been there.

I suggest reading the book 'The Miracle of Fasting' by Paul Bragg as was recommended to me. You can find torrents for it online. A 24-36 water fast, once a week, in combination with a healthy Diet and exercise program as described above will get you where you want to be 100% of the time, I personally guarantee it.
