I always seem to lose more, the less I do while fasting.
During my first fast of 21 days, I tried to do the simplest exercise and ended up feeling light-headed and dizzy. So I didn't try again. I just took a short walk, twice a day. On my second long fast of 21 days, I didn't do much but light walking either. On both I averaged about a 25 pound loss, so that to me was good enough without any exercise. And it seemed that the more I slept and rested, the greater my weight loss after those days.
I think it is important to keep the blood flowing to keep the toxins moving, but I think too much would be counter-productive as mentioned by Donn.
I have read that some people can do lots of exercise and feel OK while fasting. The times when I was forced to be more physical while fasting (like when I had to move), I was OK, but then I was even more tired than before for several days. So that too made me think that doing too much was counter-productive.
I think doing light cardio would be OK and possibly some light lifting. I have enjoyed doing a lot of stretching and yoga while fasting, so that can always be good.
Certainly you can try things out and see how your body reacts. I certainly wouldn't try to go counter to how your body feels. If you feel energetic, then try doing a little more, if tired, do less. Sometimes the best way to find things out, no matter anyone's opinion, is to try it out for yourself.
Even though I've read about people doing very physically-active things, I have to agree that part of the mechanism that helps you lose weight while fasting is not just about burning calories, but about losing toxins and the body is better able to do this while resting, in my opinion and experience.
If you are interested, here is a link to a site that promotes active fasting, that contains shorts bursts of activity to help the flow of toxins:
