There's no question silly if it's asked genuinely. And this one is actually very perceptive.

The answer is yes.

Testosterone and estrogen tend to work against each other. Low estrogen levels are likely to lead to an increased amount of free testosterone. High testosterone levels with normal estrogen levels could have much the same result as normal testosterone levels with low estrogen levels.

High testosterone levels and low estrogen levels is the combination most likely to produce significant amounts of facial hair as it gives a more male-type hormone balance.

That's what I had as a teenager resulting in long, irregular cycles, development of a moustache that I was shaving every day by the time I was 15 and absence of proper breast development. Breasts developed when I became pregnant and the moustache growth slowed right down for a while, with the increased estrogen levels of pregnancy. Same thing happened each time I became pregnant as the hormone balance shifted.

I'm not really worried about the "imbalance" -- the way I look at it, it's normal for me to have a high testosterone, low estrogen balance.
