One half dropper before or after the meal?

It does not really matter since we are not worried about absorption. All we are doing it stimulating a nerve, so this can be done at any time. I tend to take them right before meals though since the berberine in many bitters makes the tongue bright yellow. The food helps to get rid of the yellow.
