When our troops are across the sea, facing down those who would kill them, I want them to know that their lives are important to me, and every American. If you ask an American what they think of the war, they will say 'It's good that we're going after the terrorists.' Just today, I spoke with people that believe that the government that rules our nation believes Saddam Hussein and his regime have legitimate ties to Al Qaeda. The fact is when confronted with the facts, Bush had to admit that he could not provide any evidence to prove it. When faced with a similar situation in Afghanistan, Bush forced a war with a country that would not win.
America, we like winners. We love a winner today more than ever, because we as Americans have become lax and spoiled, fattened on years of toil our previous generations had to suffer through. This laughable war on Iraq has lasted nearly FOURTEEN DAYS. Fourteen days in this war. Seven years in World War II. Would you want this battle to last seven years? Millions of American lives lost? Over what, exactly?
I support our troops, but I also support common sense. In any court anywhere, you must provide sufficient proof to get a warrant from the government to go into a place and 'raid' it. Consider the UN our world government. The US has taken the role of international police officer, and has a suspected criminal in the regime in Iraq, and the regime in Afghanistan. The UN, when confronted with the tragedy of September 11th, unwisely allowed the US to act out its vengeance upon the people of Afghanistan in the form of 'War on Terrorism'.
In Iraq, we suspect that Saddam Hussein has the ability to create WMD, and the will to use them. Does he have the will to use them? Absolutely. Does he have them? Not that we can prove. So we attempt to get a search warrant so to speak, and the UN wisely says that we are working on the problem. We are hunting down any trace of WMD, and unfortunately are coming up short.
Meanwhile in Korea, we have someone testing WMD by FIRING THEM OVER AN ALLIED NATION. Read that again, slowly. Yes, we are hunting for vengeance in the desert while a definite threat is growing in North Korea. The war has begun.
I support our troops, following this madness takes courage and strength of will.
But I would be a fool to support the actions of our president, who won the election under questionable circumstances (to put it one way, to put it another, his idiot brother stole the election for him) and now stands to profit for this war for...what, exactly? What the hell is this about, really? Weapons of Mass Destruction? The only one dropping weapons like that is the arrogant US military. Perhaps we as a nation are dullards. We don't sense the irony of vilifying an individual for the weapons he has, then crowing about the destructive properties of our own.
We are idiots.
