 I did not know it provided trace minerals; which is one of the benefits for which I am using clay. I see that I have some reading to do. thanks

That depends on if it is purified or not. Purified DE is treated with acid to remove any minerals, which leaves behind pure silica. This would include food grade because raw DE also contains aluminum oxide.
