What is most ironic is that some people are advocating hydroxides and carbonates for minerals to alkalinize the body.  But study after study have proven that carbonates and hydroxides are not only very poorly absorbed compared to acidified or chelated minerals, and they interfere with the absorption of other minerals for the same reason.  So they are creating the mineral deficiencies they are trying to treat.
