We all do our BEST to source North American Herbs! I shy away from any imported herbs (whether certified organic or not)...when it's possible.

But sadly (and very frustratingly) it's not always possible. Pacific Botanicals has the best source/selection.

I agree, I doubt that M/R can travel/inspect every "organic" farm in the world - BUT, go back to their website and read about the INTENSE and very thorough testing they do...on EACH BATCH of herbs they get in. We're not likely to find anything better than that (when we can't get herbs grown on this continent).

As I understand it, in the era when the SYL manual was written, ALL herbs were irradiated. But now, those labeled as organic are not irradiated/sprayed at the border any longer.
