Answer: Your Basic water is still H2O.

It is carrying something causing it to test Alkaline.

What is it that is making it test Alkaline?

If you take your water and place some steel or Iron shavings in it, will they eventually Rust?

If they Rust, where is the Acid comming from to cause this to be so?
