Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful, healthy son!
My gut instinct on this tells me that this is transient hypothyroidism:
http://thyroid.about.com/cs/childrenseniors/a/hypothyroidkids.htm
"Fetus or newborn exposure to very high doses of iodine, which can cause transient hypothyroidism. This sort of Iodine exposure results from use of an iodine-based medication like amiodarone (used to treat irregular heart rhythms) in mother or baby, or use of iodine-containing antiseptics or contrast agents."
TRANSIENT. Just like many many folks here have reported transient symptoms of hypo and hyperthyroid.
Let's hope that that is the case. I really don't see how it's possible that your son could be hypothyroid. You do not have an autoimmune thyroid disorder, do you? You are not Iodine deficient, are you? NO.
breastcancerchoices maintains an iodine-literate practitioners directory. There are a couple in Oregon and several in Washington...

I feel for you sweetie, we've all either experienced the pressure of the medical system or seen our loved ones go through it. It must be incredibly difficult to deal with this with your baby boy. Stay strong.
With your level of knowledge, I think that you are not going to make a wrong choice. Your son chose an excellent mom:)
