Hi Gillian!
Hope you'll read this, it's been a while since you wrote, but I just read it now.
I'm 44, for 3 years I'm having slight changes in my period
(+- 1-4 days)instead of 4 weeks.
In the last 3 months, I'm getting my period every 2.5-3 weeks, it lasts shorter than it used to ( 3 days instead of 5-8) and my Doctor says after blood tests that I am going through periMenopause.
I thought it couldn't be, that it's too soon etc, but I read a lot in the net lately, and appearantly it is true.
I have no other symptoms but sleep disorders that I related to stress.
