Hi, 109287,
Does it help if I say I've seen it?
Dh was repping a boat company at a large boat show in a huge sports arena.
He did oodles of walking, and found the hardest part was climbing the concrete steps.
I believe he had Arthritis in his knees for years, but they were not swollen...just pain walking...maybe from climbing telephone poles as a young man...or from a couple of airplane tumbles in WW II.
On the second day of the show he was climbing those stairs and had to sit down for a while.
It took him hours to get to the entrance level and across the street to his hotel. Then he found that the elevator was out, and spent another couple of hours in a sofa chair.
Finally he got to lie down.
Then he had to drive 350 miles to get home.
I put my hand behind his sore knee, and was shocked to find a large goose-egg.
I asked him just now, what did he do for it. He says he doesn't remember. Nor do I, although, knowing him, I'm sure he'd have taken warm baths...he loves them.
The lump was gone within about a week, I'm pretty sure.
Do you know what I'd do, if I saw the condition again?
I'd go to a physiotherapist, or a physiotherapy clinic. Those guys are really smart.
They know how to manage any kind of an incapacitation...what wants warm, or cold, or in between...what wants the leg up, or lie still...and for how long.
They also have connections with home care services, and the like. And they are very gentle and caring...adjusting their advice to the skills and understanding of the people concerned.
They know how to help with the least pain possible.
I know nothing about such injuries, but, if I had to guess, I'd look first at a connective tissue strain...as though the strain has caused the tissue to spasm and knot up.
Have a friend put their hand on your knee, or two hands lightly around. A caring hand alleviates pain, has been my experience.
Laughter is very good medicine, too...even if only because you can't think of two things at the same time.
:D
My best, 109287. Be pain-free very soon.
Fledgling
