Antibody tests do not mean anything since they do not prove infection or exposure. Antibodies from other sources can cross react yielding false positives. This is known as serological cross reactivity. For example, the HIV test has over 65 known causes for false positives, mostly due to serological cross reactivity. False positives can also occur from exposure without chronic infection. So the only way to prove infection with a herpes virus is to have an outbreak.
