This is one thing that I can confidently give some info on. I have had severe anemia all my life, due to a genetic condition where my body does not absorb iron very well. I have been a guinea pig for a group of researchers studying this condition for the last 19-20 years. For most of my life I have had iron injections every 3-4 weeks to keep my iron levels up.

Since starting on Iodine and companion supps I have not had an iron shot, (much to the doctors and researchers surprise), my ferritin levels went from 11 to 56,(normal is between 25-120) in six months, (this has never occured before), the iron levels in my blood remain unchanged.

Because of the radical changes in my wellbeing + ferritin levels, the researchers have asked me to give them a diary of the supplements I take and give them blood samples every month to track the improvements. (they are very excited about these changes). I have agreed to do this because I think its great that they will be doing some scientific research into the effects of Iodine supps on iron levels, and in particular my genetic problem.

So it appears, at this early stage, that Iodine and companion supps do have a marked effect on the ability of the body and in particular the liver, to absorb iron.
