Living in MI, I think its listed as the worst off state as far as people being unemployed and businesses doing badly. The whole state is so dependent on the auto companies.

One would think that the police would be giving the people a bit of a break in extracting money from them in the form of fees and fines.
On the contrary, my self-employed work has me continually driving on the streets, highways and thorough fares back and forth to the nearby airport. I have been seeing a fairly large increase in the numbers of police on the roads. Its not only the State police that are pulling drivers over and issuing tickets, but it now all cities that the expressway runs adjacent to that now have their police cars out there, too, raking in the dough.

To me, its as though they are out there harvesting the crop. I went into pay a ticket at the city near the airport. I showed up just after they opened the doors at 8:30am. When I walked in there must have been about 150 people in there sitting in chairs waiting for their names to be called. I was told to go over to the clip board and put my name on it, have a seat and wait for someone to call my name. When they called my name it took the guy 2 minutes to pull my file, tell me if I wanted to avoid the points then pay such and such amount, pushed a form at me to sign and told me to go down to the end of the hall and wait for the cashier to call my name.

I thought I would be in front of a judge. I wanted to tell him how I thought it was almost a crime for the police to be pulling so many people over in the numbers they are doing out at the airport, especially in this state with the economy the way it is. But no judge, no courtroom, just a policeman in a suit and a cashier.

Figure they dealt with each person 5 minutes each x 8 hours x 2 policeman doing the processing x 5 days a week x 52 weeks per year... what a business!

And if people will be getting angry about it, what you you think the City/State will do about it? Simple - put out more police.
