The primary means I have of determining danger from fasting is my BMI, weight, and visible fat depletion. At a normal standing height, I am 5'2 - 5'3. At my current weight, I am at the high end of the normal scale. From a caloric restriction standpoint (CRS), I would be considered above my optimal levels. I believe from a visual observation, I have reached the definition of "thin". However, the fear is becoming too thin, as the body needs fat resources to perform functions, as well as prevent itself from digesting muscle, organ, and other tissue.
I do have a question that might sound naive: I read that ketosis happened when sugars/carbs in any form were not consumed, because the brain needs Sugar to operate, and gets it by converting stored fat cells into glucose. So, even if you eat meat, (i.e., the "Atkins" diet), you can still lose weight because your body isn't getting any sugars, and so has to still use up fat to survive. I have read on here that I won't reach ketosis because I am taking supplements, but if supplements don't have Sugar or calories, how can I not experience ketosis?
I'll try to respond as much as I can for now, and keep posts limited to one or two topics at a time.
