Hi CV, that's really good information there, and thanks for the link to the refeeding syndrome article. You might want to have a look at my post on the Starvation Experiment //www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1430817#i

I think fasting if done properly is a powerful tool for healing certain things, but I believe that most things including heart disease and diabetes can be reversed by proper nutrition, which I think avoids these potential pitfalls. Having said that, many people here have fasted successfully. Indeed Olympic grade ice skater Joel Fuhrman was so impressed by the healing he got from fasting for a leg injury, he went on to become a doctor and wrote a book on it called "Fasting and Eating for Health". Note the "and Eating". He now specializes in nutrition, see http://www.drfuhrman.com
and http://www.diseaseproof.com

I dropped from 230 pounds (BMI 42) to 126 pounds (BMI 25) in an 18 month period by a combination of fasting and healthy eating. Nowadays I just eat a healthy and nutritious plant based diet. I eventually aim to get to 10% body fat, perhaps now by exercise, still thinking about that.

The funny thing is that calorie restriction diets seem to improve health and longevity, but overstep the mark and it seems to mess with your head, big time.
