Ciao Dawnbee;

I think Hveragerthi might be right with the magnesium; worth a try. Transdermal magnesium (magnesium chloride / oil) can be rubbed on your neck and on your belly; relieves cramping; might have a dilating effect on those blood vessels.

When it comes to treating migraine I have had some success with water-sea salt a la watercure. Even stopped it within half an hour in a couple of cases. It is the salt that do the trick; also push out some bromide.
Sounds as you have a detox reaction; and that you are more sensitive (as the rest of us) when about our period.

About the wine-thing ; I feel with you; an Italian that cannot have her wine; not good!
Have you tried different types ? I am sensitive to red wine myself; I easily get palpitations and Hyper T reactions; keep me from sleeping. (god knows what they put in it)- also organic ones may give this reaction.

But; the more expensive , the better, aged wines; I can take without problems. It is the short aged /cheaper wine which is most treated with chemicals; that was what I learned visiting a winery in Italy once.
The other day I had a couple of glasses of an Amarone 2004
at a late dinner; I slept like a baby that night. And the price kept me from drinking more than the two glasses...
