Tagging,...recently identified as the initial process of immune response.

When an immune cell bumps into an antigen in doesn't recognized, it tags it chemically. This is believed step 1!

This is why certain white cells can migrate through lymph to a hot spot. When they receive this chemical signal the cells actually polarize and elongate, traveling toward the marked antigen, through lymphatic channels at remarkable speeds. There is an awesome video on this and it even has slides to show this incredible process.

So, if an anitgen isn't tagged, it is hard for excited, activated, (whatever terminology I fumble over,)cells to localize to a given point in the body.

Once the inflamatory process is activated white cells know exactly where to swim.

I think it is this report that changed my understanding of dendrite behavior, but I can' t recall.
I'll get back to you on the other stuff.

I will address some of your other concerns after I get home from work tonight.
