Hi Moonie, I tend to agree with Shelley to keep it simple and just take mild saline enemas when you feel an enema might provide relief. 1 teaspoon per pint is a standard isotonic solution. Isotonic means that the saline solution is neutral, i.e. it is neither absorbed by the colon nor does it draw fluids from the body.
You can probably take another pint (1 1/2 qts total) without undue discomfort.
It's not unusual for nothing to come out during an initial cleansing enema. It can be the result of no retained accumulation of waste matter, but more likely the result of hardened waste up there that will require additional enemas to soften and dislodge.
Unless your bowel inflammation is severe, you can take mild saline enemas as often as necessary, even daily if required. But I do recommend that you consult a holistic practitioner, preferably a naturopathic doctor (ND) if one practices in your area.
Best wishes, Valerie
