Since my last doctor's appointment I have been thinking the meaning of his short answer to my question about fasting.
For start he is a "no nonsense" medical professional who has been practicing for years.
I can safely say I wasn’t the first or the last patient to ask that question.
He must have seen thousands of patients in his time and yet his answer was short and without hesitation: “Negatives outweighs the positives”.
Would I answer the same question differently in his position?
No, I don’t think so.
He has very “narrow road” to go.
There are several reasons that make it narrow, like existing law, possible malpractice lawsuits, doctor’s ethics and reputation, etc.
He also knows that if all else fails there is someone opening his door and asking:
Can you help me?
He wasn’t denying the positives any more than highlighting the negatives.
It was very intelligent answer!
It is relatively easy to give an answer or advice.
It is more difficult to imagine the possible consequences!
