I also heard that face masks are helpful when worn by people already infected - to keep it from spreading - but does little when worn by someone healthy. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but that is what I heard. I also heard, early on, that there were big differences in effectiveness depending on the face mask. In other words, some are much better than others.
