Just wanted to add (since tomi is incorrect) is that Mrs. Wages brand of pickling lime is sold at Walmart and some hardware type stores that have canning supplies. If Walmart doesn't have it, they will order it for you. Perhaps they don't have Walmarts where he lives.

When he gives up baking soda in all the baked goods he uses, then maybe I will listen to this whole additives with warning label issue.
