Electrical conductivity is a measure of how conductive the water is to electrical current. The greater the ion concentration the greater the EC. Generally the higher the EC, the higher the total dissolved solids. The ec is reading the hydroxide and hydronium ions in the homogeneous solution(distilled water).
As long as the atmosphere is in contact with the distilled water the carbon dioxide will react with the distilled water lowering the 7.0 ph to anywhere from 5.2-5.8
