the FDA actually entices people to use it.
Most of the 'anti' group here on CZ love to believe that if the FDA doesnt approve of it, then surely it MUST work. They feel like they're 'fighting' back somehow. The emotional effect(placebo), as well as the psycological effects for those who arent so stable to begin with, are surely helping people 'feel' better.
