My experience is much like the rest I read here. I had my IUS inserted January 2nd of 2008. As expected I bled for about the first six weeks and then had no more bleeding or periods. I did however have several of the symptoms posted on here such as depression, fatigue, insomnia, numbness in my toes, horrible headaches, nueropothy, etc. I never linked those to my IUD because I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia years ago. Anyway, long story short, I bagan bleeding profusely around eight weeks ago. This was no normal bleeding, it was fresh blood and in large scary amounts. I am a trainer and it has gotten to the point where I was afraid to laugh or sneeze in fear of looking like a murder victim. At one point in the middle of teaching, I started bleeding so bad it went down my leg and all I could do is walk out of the room. Anyway, as of yesterday I had gotten to the point where I was so fatigued that all I could do is sleep. I called the OBGYN who got me in first thing this morning. The did a pelvic exam and could not find the threads, he attempted to use forceps and still could not find it blindly. He swore that it probably fell out. Upon my insistance, they did an ultrasound and could somewhat see the Mirena in the top of my cervix or so they think. They also discovered a cyst during the ultrasound. The doctor tried for almost an hour to remove the Mirena even using a scope and forceps at the same time with no results. He has not referred me to the hospital where I am having surgery to remove the Mirena and the cyst, they also want to do a DNC and a tubal at the same time since they think it may have caused damage. Wish me luck, I am so nervous and scared. The thing that worries me the most is surgery being a couple weeks meanwhile I am bleeding uncontrollably to the point of anemia. I would love to hear from anyone has had this same experience with the surgical removal. Did the doctor suggest a DNC? Did you have cyst? Was a tubal suggested? thanks for all your help
