Hi,
I am 57, and was recently diagnosed with IC. My doctor did not tell me anything about IC, and I had to dig for information from him and the nurses. I was treated with DMSO for 6 consecutive weeks, but it wasn't 100% helpful. Then the doctor wanted to put me on Elmiron (he said it would be, most likely, for the rest of my life). A red flag went up when he told me this and that some people lose their hair from this drug. That's the kicker that motivated me to find a natural cure. I have know for a very long time that my diet needs to improve. In the last month, I have cleaned out my refrig and cupboards of the "old" diet (not too bad, but not many vegies---and too much flour foods). I have been educating myself on an alkaline vs. acid diet, and using more natural products on my skin and in my house. This past week I went to my primary doctor (not into the natural approach) with a suspected UTI. My urine showed a high white cell count, and she prescribed Antibiotics (I did not pick up the Rx). I know this is all a "wake-up call" and I am very motivated to get healthy. Now the question: I'd like to know what others have done to treat bladder infections and IC natually. I am told that bladder infections take a long time to heal naturally (how long?). I started taking the best sources of Omega-3, Sovereign Silver, Echinacea/Goldenseal,D-Mannose,Kyolic and fresh garlic,natural Vitamin C from Acerola cherry,and high counts of Acidophilus and Bifidobaceria. I've cut out everything that is bad for me (again, my pain has motivated me, and I really don't miss it---yet!). I walk and do Yoga daily (I'm on vacation). Anyway, I'd appreciate hearing about any natural remedies you have tried, and the results. I am determined to heal myself!! Thanks for your time :>)
