Oh my, makes me glad I found out before I ever bought one. I had always loved the flowers and the romantic look of wisteria.
I understand that there is a new hybrid that is not as agressive, but must know and trust the seller.
I found out about wisteria and others (!!!) when looking for answers as to how to get rid of bamboo that was planted by our neighbor ( no luck with anyhting so far ) and sadly :( discovered that the reason I could not get rid of another two (!!!) was there in the list "INVASIVES": english ivy and vinca. Oh my - they suffocate anything in their path and you get exhausted of pulling (don't like chemical treatment because have lots of birds and other creatures and beautiful trees and flowers, and now hopefully a fledgling veggie and herb garden).
Now I try to look up the invasive plant list before planting. Thinking of going with native plants only. Though I already have a few non-natives that I do love. (not invasive though)
Thanks for sharing - visuals are much more effective in illustrating the impact these plants may have and then make better choices for our environments.
