Hi Marie,
I do not doubt for one moment that you gain much benefit from drinking green with fruit smoothies, which as you say "digest like liquid sunshine", and where of course it is a matter of personal preference and choice as to whether the proper combinations of foods are ideal for you or not, but I will just have this to say regarding combining foods in the recommended way.........
Dr William Howard Hay MD and Dr H M Shelton's experiences were mostly with the sick and chronically ill whose powers of digestion were mostly impaired and weakened by their illnesses: a common occurrence with those who are diseased/debilitated and enervated.
It was their experience, thru trial and error, that not all foods and their juices combine very well for the maximum digestion and assimilation of nutrients in their patients, especially after a lengthy fast which had to be broken prematurely for one reason or another, (economic and time-factor reasons in many cases) and where natural hunger had not returned.
This experience of refeeding and nurturing their patients back into wellness resulted in the formulation of the food combining principles that many still adhere to today and provided a method whereby the refeeding process was the "least-taxing" on the lowered energy levels of their patients, and that the body needed to aid full recovery.
If these principles then are the most rewarding for the sick and the enervated, how much more then would these benefits be on those who already possess their full powers of digestion (as in your own case perhaps)?
The principles laid down by these two eminent Doctors, and who came to the same conclusions re' the proper combinations of foods independently of each other, would most certainly result in the maximum digestion/assimilation of the nutrition from your food, while simultaneously preventing the partial/full fermentation and putrefaction of the digestive process that is so common today; this results in the one thing we are all trying to avoid: internal toxemia...........the basic cause of all disease...........................

Natural Hygiene: Man's Pristine Way Of Life.
H M Shelton.
"It is important not only to eat those foods that are best adapted to the human constitution and to eat them properly prepared, but also to eat them in ways that assure the best results in digestion. A food that may be easily digested by a person in vigorous health and full digestive power may be indigestible to a weak and sick individual. Foods that are not well chewed, foods taken in too great quantity, foods that are spoiled, even if camouflaged with seasonings, prove harmful"......................

Fruits with Vegetables..............
"Do not combine fruit with any vegetables except lettuce and celery.
It is best not to combine fruits with vegetables (especially cooked vegetables), proteins or starches because if such a combination of food is eaten, the digestion of the fruit will be delayed and subject to fermentation. Lettuce and celery, however, may be combined with any fruit except melon, and will cause no problem"..............................

To reiterate: it is a matter of personal preference and choice as to whether anyone adheres to these principles or not, but I think it is the obligation of anyone "in the know" to reveal and publicize this information, so that any individual can reach their own conclusions.
Yours diplomatically............
Chrisb1.
