Hi Mouseclick,
a valid point here is probably the QUANTITY of alcohol consumed.
Beer tends to be consumed in "pints" and the number of "potbelly's" I have seen over the years are testimony to that.

On the other hand, wine tends to be taken by the rather smaller glass version.

I often say to people who criticize me for drinking organic wine............
"Drinking wine is fine.......but don't "whine" about it.
