Dandelion is one of the herbs that stimulates bile production. When you stop using the dandelion and your feces get lighter it isn't necessarily a case of your liver "clogging up", it is a case of your liver is producing less bile. Usually herbalists have a person take a combination of several herbs (4 to 6)that help stimulate bile production. And, the person usually takes the herbal combination (as a decoction or a tincture) from 3 to 6 months. You may want to research some additional herbs (such as fringetree, boldo, gentian, yellow dock, etc.) Also bitter greens in a salad help. An herbal combination called bitters, taken about 20-30 minutes before meals, is an old time, age-honored herbalist way of increasing production of bile at meal times to help with digestion. Most health food stores carry a liquid product called Swedish Bitters, so you don't have to worry about putting the formula together yourself. I would also probably take milk thistle for awhile if it were me, as it protects and strengthens the liver. Burdock Root is an inexpensive herb which is very nutritive for the liver. It is an alterative (a herb that supplies needed 'building blocks' for the body. It also helps stimulate bile production.
Do some research. Using herbs in a formula or combination is nearly always much more powerful that just taking a single herb. In combo they act synergistically.
