As a practicing Muslim, the one thing I never do is criticize or judge but I also follow the religion. In our religion there is no dating and no living together.

A common practice in most societies but not allowed in Islam. I have many friends who do date and are Muslims but for the very devout this is not allowed. Some might find this strange and wierd but this keeps us chaste for our marriage partners.

If a man desires to marry a Muslim he must request the right to her family and then if the girl agrees they have a period to question each other and after that they sign a contract to marry and only after the formal wedding can they sleep together. The contract is a legal and binding contract that they are indeed married.

This is why we push young Muslims to marry quickly so there is no desire or doing wrong. For surely the devil tempts us all.

Our religion states that the one who does not marry, is not one of us.

A Muslim woman cannot marry a non muslim or date a non muslim unless he is interested in becoming Muslim.

A Muslim man can marry a non muslim as he would be the head of the household.

Once the man proposes he must give her gold as a present and dowery and pay for the entire wedding. In America,tradition is that the bride pays, not in Islam. He must give her money for her clothing also. Here in Jordan around 500-2000 jds. He must give her gold around 1500 -2500 jds. If the man is poor then Allah will help him find a wife that will accept him as is.

WE do help poor people get married if they have no means.

Our society is a platonic society, as we laugh and play and sing, we are always in fear of Allah and judgement day.

To proposition a Muslim woman is the greatest insult in the world, as she is preparing for marriage. Her husband would not want her to be seen as loose.

The old saying could apply here. Why pay for the cow when the milk is free.
