"There is a storm coming later this year, and only those who start becoming self sufficient NOW will survive." I have to agree with you. I have always liked to garden to grow my own food. A huge source of pleasure for me. Now, I see it as an URGENT and IMPERATIVE pleasure. Hubby is finally starting to come on board with me (to an extent) about needing to be able to provide for ourselves. Last year I put in my first garden on this piece of dirt, and though it did ok it has lots of improvement to go before the soil is 100%. Still folks here drove by and awed at it as though they could not believe their eyes. Took a darn lot of work, sore muscles and loads of dirt under my finger nails. Best exercise program I ever got. And talk about getting up a sweat! When harvest came along I was eating like I was starving (actually I was with the grocery store fair) while I plucked. I gave away loads of produce just because it pleased me to do so. This year people are already talking about my garden again wanting to know what I am going to grow and when I am going to get started. But alas, we are putting in a new root cellar this summer and not going to be giving away as much as before. Very few around here are interested in growing their own, but they sure get excited when given home grown goodies. I am no where near ready for the coming storm but have great faith that God will lead me where I need to go and in what I need to do. I believe curezone is where i heard it said, that when the student is ready to learn, the teacher will appear. Well I am ready to learn and do. And will help the other to learn the same. Great Post.
