The answer is simple. Hormones can have antagonistic effects on each other. We all have estrogens, progesterone and testosterone. Even though estrogens and progesterones are considered to be "female" hormones they are also present in men. And even though testosterone is considered a "male" hormone it is also present in women. Estrogens and progesterone are antagonistic to each other though. This is why women, who generally have more estrogen, do not generally produce facial hair. Their estrogen antagonizes their testosterone if everything works properly. Men generally do not get breasts because their testosterone keeps their estrogen in check if everything is working properly. Certain alcohols, such as beer and gin, contain a high level of estrogen. If a man has low testosterone to begin with then the estrogen can overload their system antagonizing their testosterone further leading to beer bellies and even breasts in some cases.

Your comment about the fight or flight response kicking up estrogen is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!!!! It is testosterone, not estrogen, that promotes aggression, and thus would serve more of a purpose for the fight part. Just more proof that you are as just as ignorant as Clueless.

By the way, it is epinephrine released from the adrenals, not estrogen, that constricts blood vessels to shunt blood. It also helps to dilate the bronchioles to help with oxygen supply. And it is cortisol that releases glycogen from the liver to elevate blood glucose to help provide fuel for the muscles. This is also why stress can cause weight gain. If that glucose is not being utilized properly the responding insulin surge will promote fat deposits. You really ought to get your facts straight before posting.


According to your ridiculous claim all women should have organ failure and beer bellies.
