I'm so sorry you and your family are going through such a difficult time. I will certainly keep you and him in my thoughts.

Just a thought, Magnesium supplementation has been touted as being a very good intervention for lessening the effects of stroke. Even though it has been some time since your brother's stoke it may be a good idea as a preventative measure vis a vis preventing or lessening effects of future strokes and to ensure there is no deficiency.
