Thanks for your response. As far as switching to Omega-3's - I'm not sure what you mean by this - but I'm guessing that you mean switch to something like Flaxseed Oil or Linseed (?) Oil. Well, I've read that a lot of people's bodies have trouble "converting" the substances in Flaxseed Oil to healthy DHA/EPA (it's been a long time since I read this info, and my memory is foggy - so excuse me if I'm a bit inaccurate) - so this is why I opted to take Fish Oil over these other Omega-3s. Also, there is another problem with Flaxseed Oil that makes it not ideal for me to take - its estrogenic properties. I'm already "estrogen dominant" it seems - and I'm trying to avoid as much as possible substances that would make this problem worse.

When I first started taking fish oil, I was taking this brand that I bought at a drug store - and I think (I'm not sure) that I may have had the same problem. Then I read that many fish oil brands are poor quality - and that Carlson's brand is one of the best-quality brands of fish oil available. So - I'm a bit cautious about switching brands - unless another brand is out there in which I can be assured of its quality and the price isn't too steep.

But this is a good idea just to try - although it would mean that I would "waste" the rest of the bottle of Carlson's (that I'm not allowed to take anyway, so maybe that point is moot). Any brands that you recommend?

As far as my diet - well, I'm quite health conscious - but I don't always succeed in putting my health consciousness into action. I'm sure there are a lot of people on Curezone that would consider my diet pretty bad. I do make a conscious effort to eat a certain amount of organic vegetables (both frozen vegetables and some fresh vegetables) and other organic stuff - and I try to avoid trans fats, high-fructose corn syurp, etc. My situation is such that I don't cook my own meals that often - so I rely on a lot of frozen dinners and other prepared stuff I buy from the grocery store. I try to buy as much "healthy" and "organic" frozen dinners as I can afford - frozen dinners you can find at Whole Foods or the health-food section of other grocery stores. But I come far from being able to afford to buy these types of dinners all the time - so I buy a lot of Stouffers frozen dinners (I'm attracted to the "No preservatives " label on these dinners). Sometimes I buy Ezekiel bread and try to be conscious of the amount of wheat/gluten I'm consuming. I'm a big label reader - although my diet still falls far from the "ideal". And once or twice a week or so - I can't resist "take out" - Zaxby's, food from some Mexican restaurant, Zesto's, etc. I'm not a vegetarian - and I don't make any particular efforts to avoid red meat (not that I have red meat at every meal). A few years ago, I read up on the "metabolic type" theory - and, as best as I could figure out - I'm of a metabolic type that functions better on "sufficient" amounts of protein and fat. For my metabolic type - certain amounts of meat, and even red meat, are supposed to be beneficial to me (as long as the meat is not loaded up w/ hormones & Antibiotics , I suppose). I'm a "fast oxidizer" - so if I try to rely on carbs and a lowfat diet, my blood-sugar seems to drop and I become unsatiated and hungry.

It's interesting that you bring up taking Iodine - because I was just looking into taking Iodine for another reason (possible fibrocystic breast issues). But I may be mercury toxic - and Iodine (at least when taken in certain dosasges) is a known chelator of mercury. This sounds good on the surface - but I've been reading Andrew Cutler's ideas on mercury chelation - and there are certain substances that are known as "mercury chelators" - but actually do a pretty shabby job of getting mercury out of your body. What these substances end up doing is just moving the mercury around your body and depositing it to different sites. So from a mercury-intoxication standpoint, I'm not sure if it's "safe" for me to take iodine, especially since I haven't had my dental Amalgams taken out yet.
